How do I save power
Problem
With global warming and fuel prices rising it is important to conserve energy where possible. By doing small things, such as saving power when using your computer you can help do your bit.
Solution
There are a couple of small things you can do to save power when using the computer.
Turn the monitor off
When you aren't using the computer, turn the monitor using its on/off switch. A screensaver does not save energy.
Set your hard drives to turn off
Hard drives use power when you are away from your computer, it is possible to turn them off when your computer is inactive.
To turn your hard drives off in Windows do the following in order:
- Start
- Settings
- Control Panel
- Power Options
- Turn off hard disks: [TIME]
Set [TIME] to the time you want the hard drives to turn off after no activity on the computer.
